These are PEGHEDS which have been primarily created to fit ukuleles. They have also been used on Cavaqhinos, Mountain Dulcimers, Balalaikas and Banjos. { I would like to hear of any other application to which you use them. With your permission I will add your name and use to the website.}
Specifications are in millimeters [and inches]. The internal gearing is the same on all. There are only two different lengths and four different diameters. The machinist has a tolerance of plus or minus .005, so a light reaming may be needed.
NUMBER CODE: The left numeral, 7 or 7.5 or 8 is the diameter of the hole where it comes flush with the front of the headstock. . The middle number 4 indicates a 4:1 gear ratio. The right hand numeral tells the size of the button. 3 indicates it is the size of a 3/4 scale violin button. This means it is 19mm from side to side and 17mm from top to bottom of the button. 4 means it is the same size button as a 4/4 violin button. These are 22mm from side to side and 20mm from the bottom to the top. WOOD BUTTONS ARE ONLY 4/4
LETTER CODE: A is a composite button. B is Boxwood. E is Ebony. R is Rosewood. B, E and R are only available with a 4/4 button.
